1. Immediate Shelter & Housing 

● American Red Cross Shelters 

○ Website:

○ Provides emergency shelter sites, food, basic supplies, and assistance for reconnecting to family members. 

● Los Angeles County Emergency Shelters 

○ Lists open evacuation sites, shelters, and real-time updates. 

Salvation Army 

○ Adults and youth in need of shelter: (800) 548-6047 

○ Seniors in need of shelter or other services: (800) 304-7152 

○ Families with minor children in need of shelter: 211 

○ Provides shelter, free meals, clothing, hygiene kits, and child care. 

○ Website: 

○ Collaborates with 211LA to provide free contemporary housing. An intake form must be filled out to receive housing support.

● Stay Housed LA Wildfire-Related Tenant Support

○ Website: https://www.stayhousedla.org/wildfires

○ Provide information on tenant rights during and after wildfires and guidance on how to negotiate with landlords regarding damages and habitability.


2. Food & Basic Necessities 

● Los Angeles Regional Food Bank 

○ Offers food assistance and information on local pantry locations.


3. Financial & Emergency Assistance 

● FEMA (if declared a federal disaster) 

○ Phone: 1-800-621-FEMA (1-800-621-3362) 

○ Offers grants for temporary housing, home repairs, and other disaster-related expenses. 

● California Department of Social Services (CDSS) 

Can help with emergency CalFresh benefits (food assistance) and CalWorks (cash aid) for those who qualify. 


4. Healthcare & Mental Health 

● Los Angeles County Health Services 

○ Offers referrals to local clinics providing low-cost or free medical care. ● Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health 

○ 24/7 Helpline: 1-800-854-7771 

○ Provides crisis counseling, therapy referrals, and additional mental health support. ● Disaster Distress Helpline

○ Free, confidential counseling available 24/7. 


5. Transportation 

● Uber 

○ Evacuees can redeem 2 trips per rider up to $40 per ride through 1/25 by applying the promo code “WILDFIRE25” before requesting a ride to a designated shelter location. For step-by-step instructions on how to apply the promo code, click here.

○ Evacuees can redeem 2 trips per rider up to $25 per ride through 1/15 by applying the promo code “ CAFIRERELIEF25” to shelter locations. 


6. Employment & Income Support 

● Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA)

○ A free, 24/7 helpline connecting you to shelters, food pantries, and other local resources. 


10. Pet & Animal Services 

● LA County Animal Care & Control 

○ Assistance for evacuation: (562) 940-6898 

○ Offers pet sheltering options during evacuations and rescue resources for large animals (e.g., horses).


Important Reminders 

1. Register for Assistance Early 

○ Even if you’re unsure whether you qualify, submit applications (e.g., FEMA) as soon as possible. 

2. Document Losses 

○ Keep photos, receipts, and records of any damage or expenses to support insurance or aid applications. 

3. Stay Informed
